Music for the Ball Lyrics

Music for the Ball

My friend Jonny he went to war,

We fought together till the bullets tore,

Through his legs right where it stands,

Now Jonny says he’s half a man.

Why can’t we all just get along,

And sing together one more song?

The times have changed, but the song remains the same.

Just play the music for the ball.

I went with Jonny to the church one day,

They passed around the old collection plate.

The preacher said, “This is for Jonny,

For all the brave things he has done.”

Jonny said, “I ain’t the one.”

I saw Jonny with his girl,

He took her by the hand and he gave her a twirl.

They danced all night till Jonny felt he was right,

Then he walked out of the door.

Why can’t we all just get along,

And sing together one more song?

The times have changed, but the song remains the same.

Just play the music for the ball.

The Stomp Lyrics

The Stomp

Don’t you fear and don’t you fret now,

Hear the music playing,

Dance like you’ve got no regrets,

Don’t listen to what they’re saying.

It’s always condensating.

I know you’ve been told all your life,

Just who you’re supposed to be,

And you question whether wrong or right,

Is just your imagination.

Is there no foundation?

Must be so frustrating.

Don’t let them place upon you,

All of the spirit of this land.

Pray to God hope that he hears you,

Then maybe you will understand.

I know sometimes you want to quit.

You feel this life is full of shit,

Well I hope we remember it!

When we’re old and feeble,

Will we still love The Beatles?

Or be a caring people.

Don’t let them place upon you,

All of the spirit of this land.

Pray to God hope that he hears you,

Then maybe you will understand.

That life is a journey,

For the good of every woman and every man.

And I once heard it said,

The answer’s blowing in the wind,

But now I think it’s just around the bend.

Yea I think the answer’s just around the bend.

Tell Me Lyrics

Tell Me

Tell me how to survive this,

When white is black and black is white,

And red is green and green has turned to indigo.

Tell me how many times I believed the lies,

Spun by witches with their golden thread,

Who tell me I’m not anything.

Well I hear all of the bitching,

About how bad our lives have been,

How bad their gonna be.

But I can’t sing all about those things in life,

I know that with a little luck,

Things just might turn out in the end.

Unchain thyself Bereginon (Bergeron),

Let thy fetters fall!

You’re never gonna learn,

You’re just gonna keep going round and round.

Unchain thyself Bereginon (Bergeron),

Be all that thou art!

And when you finally realize who you are,

You’ll know the world’s not gonna change,

You just have to play the game.

Unchain thyself Bereginon (Bergeron),

All the world is yours!

I guess what I’m trying to say is,

Abandon all hope.

Samuel

My name is Samuel I am a sailor,

On a 21st century sea.

I’ve had my trips of disillusion,

But it’s not the same to me.

As a boy I joined the crew,

Of a ship called Liberty.

Far and distant lands we conquered.

All for one was our creed.

All the cargo of the rich man,

The poor and middle we plundered too.

So this world may go on civil,

And fertile minds may grow up through,

All the years of trepidation,

Let no one play the fool,

Who says he does not have an answer,

For who we are and what we do.

My name is Samuel I am a sailor,

And so not to confuse,

I am inviting you to join us,

We are the generation of the fools.

Song For Mr. Johnson

Well I’ve been away so long,

You know my baby she ain’t at home.

Well I’ve been away so long,

You know my baby she ain’t at home.

She done and left me for another man,

Said “I can’t do this no more.”

Well I got to keep on ramblin’

Gotta play my rock and roll.

Well I got to keep on ramblin’

Gotta play my rock and roll.

All I need’s this here guitar,

And a woman to love my soul.

Well listen to me closely,

Listen to me good,

I know you say you love me,

But I don’t think its true no no.

Not when you do what you do.

Well you’ve been so mean babe,

But I can’t keep from loving you.

Well you know I’ve done some bad things,

Lord knows I’ve lost control.

Well you know I’ve done some bad things,

Lord knows I’ve lost control.

But this world keeps on spinning,

And I just keep singing my songs.

Well they say one and one is two,

But I kinda think it’s five,

Cause every time you touch me,

It makes me come alive yea yea,

Every time we cross that line,

Well I don’t want to leave you babe,

But if I stay I’ll lose my mind.

Well I got to keep on ramblin’

Gotta play my rock and roll.

Well I got to keep on ramblin’

Gotta play my rock and roll.

All I need’s this here guitar,

And a woman to love my soul.

Gatsby

Hey there Gatsby, Oh Gatsby

Don’t you let them get you down.

Don’t let them push you around.

Oh Daisy, Maybe just maybe,

She’s not the girl in your head.

You’ve spent your whole life,

Chasing after the elusive dream.

How real it seemed.

Then you wake up and realize,

That you’re sailing away.

Hey Edmund, Oh Edmund,

Do you like your Turkish Delight?

I see the fire in your eye.

Oh Rapunzel, hey Rapunzel,

Won’t you let your hair hang down.

I’ll climb to the top of your tower,

And break the spell on you.

If love is true,

Then we’ll walk in the cool of the day,

Till we’re sailing away.

Can you catch us cause we’re sailing away,

From this tinker toy dreamland.

All our hopes and dreams light the way,

To the promise land.

Can you catch us cause we’re sailing away,

From this tinker toy dreamland.

All our hopes and dreams light the way…

Bacon and Eggs Lyrics

Bacon and Eggs

I was walking down Main Street just the other day.

This old man with his hand out, he told me to pay.

Said he was the taxman, said he was the priest.

Said, “You need nothing you want and you want nothing you need.”

Could you hold the fort for me my lonely friend?

Keep a light on inside so I’ll find my way back home.

It was two years ago, it was two years too soon,

When I had a little drink with the man in the moon.

You know he said that he was the American Dream.

I just smiled, shook his hand said, “I see what you mean.”

Could you hold the fort for me my lonely friend?

Keep a light on inside so I’ll find my way back home.

Don’t you lie to me!

Don’t you fuck with me!

I know you make all the rules.

I know you think I’m the fool.

But that won’t always be.

Cause times they change you see.

I’d still like to believe,

In a world without greed.

Every man, woman, and child,

What’s gonna really drive them wild,

Is not all the dreams you steal,

But that none of it was real.

Atlantica Lyrics

Atlantica

Riding a train to Atlantica,

Where acceptance can be found,

Where everybody knows your name,

Cause there’s no one else around.

Riding a train to Atlantica,

Away from all the world’s despair.

No worries in Atlantica,

Cause no one’s really there.

Riding a train to Atlantica,

Away from bullets, bloodshed, and disease.

No one cares in Atlantica,

Guess you’ll just do as you please.

Road the train to Atlantica,

Now we’re worse off than we’ve ever been.

Blow your brains out on the wall,

Can’t stand to watch your body fall,

Deeper into these limelight dreams,

Cause Atlantica my friend,

Is a place that tends to bend,

The truth through lies and greed.

Devil and Me

Devil and Me

Well I met her down town.

It was late last night.

She got my heart caught up in a jam.

You know she kissed me twice and she said real nice,

“Come with me you rambling man.”

So I followed her down to a corner bar,

where we had a bourbon or two.

Then she said to me if you want to be great,

well here’s what you gotta do.

“Go on down to Mississippi.

Down where the music is so gritty.

Sell your soul there at the cross roads.”

I said, “Darling I made that deal a long time ago.”

“See an angel came to Memphis town,

When I was ‘bout five years old.

Said, ‘son you’ll play like the gods of men,

If you can give the devil his own.’

So when I turned nineteen with guitar in hand,

I met the devil under the moon.

He said, ‘Son have you come to sell your soul?’

I said, ‘Not to the likes of you!’

I went down to Mississippi,

Down where the music is so gritty,

Met the Devil there at the crossroads,

For three whole days and nights we played note for note.

Like this…

Well the lightning struck saw the devil’s face,

His guitar had broke in two.

I looked that devil right in the eye

And said, ‘I have beaten you.’”

Now the girl I was with just rolled her eyes,

Said, “That cannot be true.”

But then the Devil burst through that bar room door,

With guitar in hand said, “Round Two!”

Going Down to Mississippi,

Down where the music is so Gritty,

Met the devil there at the crossroads,

Me and that devil gonna play some rock and roll.

Going down to Mississippi,

Down where the music is so gritty,

Meet the devil there at the crossroads,

Gonna play this old guitar to save my soul.
